72 Hours In County Lock Up

"Two things in this world I do hate. One is talking behind the back, and the other is lice."

At around 1:30 A.M. Monday morning, I was finally collecting my belongings from the County Sheriff's office after spending seventy-two hours in their detention facility.

My arresting officer on Sunday evening, much like another SDPD officer downtown on Saturday night, immediately supposed because I look poor, underweight, admitted I was living out of my car, and appeared nervous (which, for some reason, being stopped by police does make me a little nervous) that I was Using.

Recently, I have been questioned by police about what kind of medications I am on. This seems like an odd question from a police officer. Like, if you aren't on medication then you must be guilty of some other horrendous crime.

This new question about using both times it was directed at me caught me completely off guard. I like drinking but I have never used hard core drugs. I am Not a tweaker, have Never snorted cocainne, and any other drug more extreme that that is just beyond Any realm of reason.

While within the jail facility, I was amazed at how well the prisoners got along. Most of these people had been arrested, like I had, of being under the suspicion of using narcotics. It is very strange to me that with our depressive economy, unemployment at an all time high, and poverty possibly around the corner for many who have never experienced it that our beloved police force is out in droves purposely searching for drug users, maybe, I would guess, hoping to recruit more drug narcs for their pitiful war on drugs.

An irony of this that I witnessed while in detention is that the jail gives out more drugs than food. It is incredibly easy, and incredibly sad, to recognize the hard-core users in jail. While some of us were practically starving because only three very small meals are served in a twenty-four period the addicts are milling about complaining of not getting their "medication" on time.

Because of this experience, I want everyone out in the world to know that I am extremely offended by rumors and gossip concerning me using any kind of illegal narcotic. I am hoping to end these types rumors now before further police harassment ensues against me. Not only am I not addicted to any illegal substances, I do not believe I personally know anyone that is either.

Also, so everyone knows why it has been impossible to reach me recently, the police confiscated my cell phone to use as evidence in case the City Attorny's Office decides to press charges against me. If anyone has an old phone lying around that they do not need, I would greatly appreciate being able to use it temporarily until I can get mine back. Thank you.
